(1444-1514) Bramante was a well-known Renaissance architect and contemporary of Leonardo. He served Pope Julius II as chief planner in the papal initiative to rebuild Rome. Bramante designed the classically-inspired circular Tempietto of S. Pietro in Montorio, Rome. He was chief architect of St. Peter's Basilica and built the Belvedere Court at the Vatican.
